LEVEL 1 INSPECTION:
A Level 1 Inspection is a basic look at the system which involves looking for combustible deposits or blockages within the system. This level is typical for customers who have annual sweep/inspections of their system. It is also recommended when changing out an appliance with similar fuel and venting type.
LEVEL 2 INSPECTION:
A Level 2 Inspection includes everything in a Level 1 Inspection and a video scan of the entire flue run. The roof is accessed to asses the chimney crown, flashing, and exterior cladding (brick, wood, or siding) to identify signs of deterioration or access of water to the interior of the building. Basement, attic, and/or crawl space are also accessed if needed to determine if parts of your system are out of conformity.
As most furnaces and water heaters are vented through the chimney, we will look at the venting of these into the chimney to verify that these are vented properly, and will recommend corrections based on our findings.
Level 2 inspections are recommended when adding or removing any appliance to or from your system (wood or gas insert), changing fuel type, weather events such as lightning strikes, earthquakes, or falling trees or large branches that are likely to cause damage to your system, or cause chimney or house fires. Level 2 inspections are required when a house changes hands. Buyers, sellers, and inheritors of homes are strongly urged to have a Level 2 Inspection performed as it protects all interested parties from unknown issues when using the system.
LEVEL 3 INSPECTION:
Though rare, a Level 3 Inspection may be required if a Level 2 determines that further investigation of the system is needed. This involves all of the above and the removal of components of the building adjacent to the area(s) of concern to allow enough access to the area to investigate.
